(b,c) Examples of complete protein interaction networks for two of the organisms evaluated here. These figures enable the examination of the size distribution of protein-protein interaction networks in different species. Moreover, proteins are color-coded based on function, thus allowing for the examination of relationships between function and cluster size. For example, this figure shows small or medium size clusters usually contains proteins with similar function. CS-CCC compares all of such networks across multiple species to identify conserved and unique sub-networks. The lengths of the lines in the network hold no meaning and vary simply to facilitate viewing.
